I am a Shinto priest.

Shinto

I am a Shinto priest.

I am a Shinto priest in Kyoto, Japan.
Everyday I work for Kami[deity] at a shrine.
For example, praying for peace of Japanese state and nation,
in addition, that of the world, cleaning buildings of shrine and so on.

And I am also English teacher and learner.
So, one for my improvement of English, another for an information of Shinto to the world,
I want to write articles about Shinto in English.

About me

Before describing Shinto, I will tell you about me.

I’m 42 years old and have two children. but I divorced a year ago.
So I live alone in an apartment.
I meet two children once in a week or two.
I don’t feel lonely.

I majored in philosophy in the university. I studied western philosophy.
Because I have been fascinated with western cultures since when I was a child.
I wanted to know how western people think things.

When I was 23 years old, I realized that I didn’t know of Japanese philosophy and religion at all. Living in Japan, I thought I should know more about Japan.
Since then I have been studying about Japan and became a Shinto priest.
Of course, I am still a learner of Japan, but I want to share my knowledge and learn other cultures.

I am sorry that my English is not good enough to write articles.
But if you are interested in Shinto, please read my clumsy articles.
I am sure to improve my English skills and Shinto studies.
