関係代名詞と前置詞を完全に攻略しましょう。
参考書を端から端まで読むより、
問題を解きながら理解する方が
頭に入ります。
問1
That is the hotel ( ) which he has stayed for three days.
あれは彼が３日間滞在したホテルです。
先行詞は the hotel です。
関係代名詞節を見ると、stayed の後に前置詞がありませんので、
stayed の後に入れるべき前置詞を考えます。
２文にすると、
That is the hotel.
He has stayed at the hotel for three days.
関係代名詞節に前置詞を残すこともできます。
That is the hotel which he has stayed at for three days.
答え
That is the hotel ( at ) which he has stayed for three days.
問2
The sport ( ) which I’m good is tennis.
私が得意なスポーツはテニスです。
先行詞は The sport です。
関係代名詞節を見ると、
I’m good とあり、
ここから、「 be good at ~」「〜が得意だ」という熟語を思い出します。
覚えていない人はぜひ暗記してください。
よって at を用います。
２文にすると、
I’m good at the sport.
The sport is tennis.
関係代名詞節に前置詞を残すこともできます。
The sport which I’m good at is tennis.
答え
The sport ( at ) which I’m good is tennis.

Which is the CD ( ) which you were listening this morning ?
あなたが今朝聞いていたCDはどちらですか？
先行詞は the CD です。
which が２つありますが、
前のものは、疑問詞。
後ろのものは、関係代名詞です。
関係代名詞節を見ると、listening の後ろに to がありません。
listen to ~ は、「〜を聞く」という意味で、
よく出てきます。
listen と to はセットです。
覚えておきましょう。
２文にすると、
You were listening to the CD this morning.
Which is the CD ?
関係代名詞節に前置詞を残すこともできます。
Which is the CD which you were listening to this morning ?
答え
Which is the CD ( to ) which you were listening this morning ?

Do you know the girl ( ) ( ) Ken is talking ?
ケンが話している女の子を知っていますか？
先行詞はthe girl です。
関係代名詞節を見ると、talking の後ろに前置詞がありませんので、
適当なものを考えます。
talk with ~ で「〜と話す」という意味ですので、
with を選びます。
２文にすると
Ken is talking with the girl.
Do you know the girl ?
下の文で the girl は、前置詞 with の目的語です。
よって、関係代名詞は、人の目的格、whom を使います。
関係代名詞節に前置詞を残すこともできます。
Do you know the girl whom Ken is talking with ?
答え
Do you know the girl ( with ) ( whom ) Ken is talking ?

The old man ( ) ( ) she is taking care is her father-in-law.
彼女が世話をしている老人は、彼女の義理の父親です。
先行詞は The old man です。
関係代名詞節を見ると、taking care の後ろに前置詞がありませんので、
適当なものを考えます。
taking care of ~ で「〜を世話する」という意味ですので、
of を選びます。
２文にすると、
She is taking care of the old man.
The old man is her father-in-law.
